It's Show Time......Part One.
We've heard this expression much in the last few years. It’s been used in the movies, in sports, in conversation, sometimes with a thought pattern and sometimes as a catchy phrase.
Never-the-less it has implications that reflect whether or not one is genuine, or not genuine.
Whether or not you are fully committed.
Whether or not one has the best interest of what one is representing.
Whether or not one truly has the convictions required to know when it’s, "Showtime".
We Christians, not just church members, are constantly in the spotlight. When Jesus was received in our hearts He became our Lord and Saviour, and the Light that radiates from within the believer.
This is a constant Light that has the opportunity to shine when times are good, or when times are bad. Most of us love to pretend our Lights are shining when we know they aren’t, and that’s called the fleshy side of this being.
All of the happenings in life that can cause our Lights to not shine do not have to result in Jesus being snuffed out. In the Jewish temple of old, when the High Priest was present, he received his light from the candlestick shining and reflecting off his breastplate. This was and is the Truth to us that Jesus is our High Priest and lights our paths.
Not just when it’s easy, but when it’s hard.
Not just when it’s complicated, but also in the simple.
Not just when we want it to be Showtime, because Showtime is all the time.
It was Showtime on the cross.
It was Showtime at the tomb of Lazarus.
It was Showtime in the garden.
It was Showtime for Abraham when he had to go up on the mountain to worship his GOD.
He wasn’t following his son, He was leading his son. He was following God. It was Showtime on the day of Pentecost when the Spirit of God arrived in truth and in power to proclaim the Good News through humanity. There has been and will be many opportunities to "Let your Light Shine".
When temptation knocks on your door, it’s showtime, just say no!
When you yield to temptation, and the Spirit of God says repent, it’s Showtime, don’t continue to practice sin.
When you’re caught in the act of sin, humble yourself and receive forgiveness, even as James says to come before the elders of the church and receive the prayer of faith as you confess your faults one to another. There is no greater joy that one can share with others when Lights are shining for GOD.
Let our next moment of worshipping a HOLY GOD be one that we realize Worshipping God is a blessing, a requirement, a time to not pretend who we are. A time to realize we need HIM for forgiveness, for power to serve, the ability to know what is sin and what is not sin. To learn to take stands against sin.
We are Christians first, then Fathers, Mothers, children, employees, employers, etc., etc. Our lights need to shine even when we aren’t counting it as Showtime.
May God bless you all.
